Amelia Labor & Postpartum Gown in Midnight Blue

Regular price $69.99
Sale price $69.99 Regular price

Our Amelia gown is our more modest and slightly more accessible alternative to our best selling Lila gown. All of our labor and postpartum gowns are designed with actual labor in mind by a Labor and Delivery Nurse and Doula. These gowns are intended to provide accessibility to your medical team, while still being stylish and comfortable for you.

Some features of this gown include:

• High-quality, butter smooth, stretch material - Did you know, for some women, sensations are experienced differently in labor? A texture that may feel fine normally can become irritating and distracting during labor. The material used for this gown has been hand selected to be soft enough to keep you comfortable throughout.

• Unsnappable Back - Our Amelia gown unsnaps down the back to provide accessibility for epidural placement or massage while still maintaining privacy.

• Opens at the belly - Most labor gowns you’ll find don’t open in front at all, meaning the cords from your fetal monitors will hang down in front of your legs which can be annoying and distracting. Our labor gowns open down the middle of your belly so you can string the cords up with your portable monitoring system and keep them out of the way and out from under your feet.

Unsnappable Sleeves - Our Amelia gown is our only gown that offers unsnappable sleeves. This is helpful for anyone who plans to have an IV placed while in labor. Most IV's are not actively being used while in labor but instead placed out of an abundance of caution. However, if you do have fluids or medication running through an IV, the sleeves on our Amelia gown unsnap so you don't have to pause your IV infusion to remove the gown. Don't like the look of unsnappable sleeves? Check out our original Lila gown!

• Two inside ties - Did you know one of the most common complaints from women after they have given birth is that their privacy was invaded? Most labor gowns that offer a similar level of accessibility are skimpy and revealing. Our gowns are made with things like 3/4 sleeves, and two inside ties to keep your gown closed while not sacrificing accessibility.

• Opens at the chest - The front of this gown opens completely at the chest for skin to skin immediately after birth, and because sometimes that happens quickly or unexpectedly there are no knots to untie or changes of position required to give complete and immediate access to your chest for skin to skin and breastfeeding.

• Matching Baby Swaddle Set - How can you miss the opportunity to match with your baby? Our Lila gown can be ordered solo or as a set. Simply add a matching Baby Swaddle Set to your cart and use code BUNDLE50 at checkout to get the matching Baby Swaddle Set for 50% off!

Our gowns are made of 8% spandex and 92% rayon

Excellent customer service

We needed to return a gown for another style that would be more comfortable for my daughter in love and after emailing, they expedited the replacement gown and made the return process so easy. Top notch company and very personable. Highly recommend this company and their product is sooo soft to touch. I also purchased a swaddling set and it is of great quality and butter soft as well.

The fabric was good quality and I loved the color. However, the snaps on the back were bulky and irritating and the waistline was too low, meaning it got stuck at the top of my belly and the bodice bunched up. There’s only a couple snaps up the breasts, so the bunching fabric led to a full display because of how loose it was. Was hoping for a middle ground on modesty and this was not it between the bodice issue and how chunky and far apart all the snaps were.

Snaps are not comfortable, less modest than depicted in pictures (not a middle ground)

First, what I loved about this: the fabric was an incredible quality, and the color was gorgeous. For these two things along I wish I could have kept this, but unfortunately, the rest of the dress was less positive, and ultimately, I made the decision to return it. A final pro is the ties for the skirt really are well designed, there are two ties that keep it well closed when not needed for access to the belly/baby.
I bought this dress looking for a middle ground between the regular dresses (Lila and Juliet) with the open backs and the fully modest dress (Nadia), since I didn't want the full length of the Nadia. If I had time (shipping is pretty slow and my due date as too close) I would have switched to a Nadia and had it hemmed to the length I was looking for.
One of the main concerns with modesty in this style was that the snap buttons on the front are not high enough. There is really only one beyond the waistband, making it less modest than the pictures depict. Along with that, the waitband itself was oddly positioned for being a labor gown. I am 5'2" and bought the petite size, but the waistband still was meant to sit lower than possible with my current pregnancy belly in the way. Seems like a major issue for a labor gown, to be honest. This caused all the fabric on top to bunch up and contributed to the issues with the number of snaps on the front.
My other major complaint was the snaps in the back and down the sleeves. The snaps were too far apart and itchy on the skin, which was uncomfortable to wear. This ultimately was the major reason I decided to return, since I knew it would be irritating to wear during labor and end up detracting rather than enhancing the experience.

Loved it! Wore this for my c-section sooo much comfortable than those hospital gowns. Got so many compliments from nurses and staff, If you’re thinking about buying it do it! I thought I was bigger so I sized up wish I would’ve sized down but that’s on me. Other than that I loved it!!!
